I received my Ph.D from the University of Toronto in 1999. My primary areas of interest are environmental ethics, moral psychology, and early-modern philosophy. My current work is in climate ethics. I have published on Descartes, Locke, Nietzsche, motivated irrationality, the philosophy of emotions, moral reasons, and moral dilemmas, among other topics. My articles have appeared in American Philosophical Quarterly, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, Journal of Value Inquiry, History of Philosophy Quarterly, Journal of the History of Ideas, Ethical Theory and Moral Practice, and other places.
