Matriculation and Undergraduate Awards

 Scholarships
A scholarship is a monetary award to assist full-time students in
the pursuit of their studies based
on outstanding academic achievement, but usually not on financial
need.

The fact that a student has the required average or
higher does not guarantee
a scholarship. Scholarships are competitive based on grades.

The University may allot scholarships by Faculty.

Scholarships offered by the University are
tenable only at Wilfrid
Laurier University.

 Matriculation Scholarships
Matriculation scholarships are available to Canadian citizens,
permanent residents, and applicants
who hold a valid student visa. To be eligible, visa applicants
must have completed their senior
year at a Canadian high school.

These scholarships are sponsored and administered by
the University for
students who are entering the First Year of any undergraduate
program. The scholarships are
based on interim grades submitted by secondary schools. The
required averages quoted below
are the minimum averages. Competition may require higher averages
in some programs. A
student who accepts an offer of admission at Wilfrid Laurier
University may defer registration
for one year without loss of the scholarship, provided the
student does not register in the interval
at another post secondary institution.

A student may not hold more than one matriculation
scholarship.

Successful candidates will be selected on the basis
of academic achievement.
Previous academic progress and the secondary school principal's
comments will also be taken
into consideration.

If a scholarship recipient applies for financial
assistance through the Ontario
Student Assistant Program, the amount of aid will be affected in
accordance with the regulations
of the program.
