GENERAL BA PROGRAMS
Objectives
The General BA program is designed to give the student knowledge and
appreciation of the broad range of human endeavour in the humanities,
social sciences, and natural sciences, while providing for study in greater
depth and detail of the student's chosen major subject in the
humanities, social sciences, mathematics, or computing.
A student in the General BA program must choose a major subject from
among the following:
*Available as a second major only
**Physical Education is a program with a limited and controlled
enrolment. Students wishing this program must indicate this preference
on the initial application to the university.
For a secondary program, the student may select as a second major any of
the above subjects, or, alternatively, may select a minor or an available
option. To complete any major, minor, or option, all applicable common and
special requirements must be fulfilled.
Regulations for General BA Programs
In addition to the Regulations for General Programs and the applicable Common
and Special Requirements for the major, all General BA students must choose
programs to satisfy the
following conditions:
1.
The program may not contain more than seven junior credits.
2.
The program may not contain more than three credits from Division D.
3.
The majority of credits counting for the General BA degree must not be
in Division C.
4.
Students registered in the General BA program shall not be allowed to
count towards the degree more than one credit from SC101, SC102, SC103,
SC104, BI110, BI120, CH115*, PC101* and AS105* for a degree credit.
5.
A maximum of seven credits in a subject may be included in the program.
This maximum is increased to eight when two junior credits are required
for a major in the subject concerned. Any cross-listed course credits are
counted towards the maximum, regardless of the
student's actual registration in such courses.
