MINORS

 Common Requirements for the Minor
A minor is a secondary concentration of courses in a subject other than a major or honours
subject. The minimum requirements for the minor consist of at least three credits, no fewer than
two of which shall be senior credits obtained at WLU.
A student may select at most one minor. A minimum GPA of 4.50 is required on all courses of
the minor subject.

    The following is a complete list of available minors and their equivalents.

 Special Requirements for the Minor
 Anthropology: AN101, AN102, and one credit in Anthropology at each of the
      200 and 300 levels.
 Archaeology: AR100* and two senior credits in Archaeology.
      Only one of these senior credits may be obtained from a summer field course.
 Biology: BI100* and any two senior Biology credits with the
      exception of those courses designated as  a  courses.
 Canadian Studies: CA200*, CA301, CA302 and an additional credit from the
      list of  electives available in the Canadian Studies major.
 Chemistry: CH100* (or CH110*) together with two senior credits, at least one
      of which  must be obtained from a laboratory course.
 Classical Studies:

    (a) CL101, CL102, and two senior credits in Classics or
    (b) Both LA101 and LA102 or both GR101 and GR102, CL225,
      CL226 and one senior credit in Classics.
 Communication Studies: CS200, CS201 (cross-listed as
      PY201), CS235, CS300, CS308 (cross-listed as SY308), EN202.
 Computing: CP104, CP114; one of CP211, CP216; CP264; CP314;
      either CP363 or CP466.
 Drama: Three credits fulfilling requirements (a), (b) and (c):
    (a)  One credit from EN203, EN207, EN232*, EN322,
      EN326, CL320, GM202, GM203, RE233.
    (b) A second credit from the above list in (a) or from TR221, TR229,
      MU378, RE316, RE319.

    (c) TR349*
    Note: With the permission of the English Department, EN209,
      EN301, EN309, EN342*, and EN347* may be used to fulfil the requirements in (a) and (b).
 Economics: EC120 and EC140 and two senior credits in Economics.
 English: A junior credit and two senior credits in English. The two senior
      credits may include one of EN209, EN309, TR221, TR229 in lieu of a regular half-credit
      English course.
 Film Studies: Three credits from FS204, FS240, FS241, FS242,
      FS243, FS244, FS245, FS246, FS247, FS248, FS341, FS343; EN202.
 Fine Arts: FI100* and FI220; one credit from FI200* or FI247* or both
      CL214 and CL215; one credit in studio.
 French: FR111* (or FR112* or FR211* or FR222*), FR205*, and one other
      senior credit in French.
 Geography: Geography courses must include GG100* and two senior
      credits including a half credit from GG210, GG220, GG230, GG240.
 German: GM102*, one senior credit in each of composition and
      literature as approved by the Department. GM201*, GM202, GM203 and GM204* may not be
      credited toward a minor.
 Greek: The introductory courses and at least two senior
      credits, including a minimum of a half credit beyond the 200 level.
 History: One credit in each of Canadian and European History. Either
      of these credits, but not both, may be at the junior level. One additional
      senior credit in History. Courses of which the descriptions are followed by (E)
      can be used to fulfil the European history requirement.
 Latin: The introductory courses and at least two senior credits,
      including a miniumm of a half credit beyond the 200 level.
 Mathematics: MA100*, MA122, MA200, MA201, and any senior credit in
      Mathematics. Should any of the required courses for the minor in Mathematics also be
      required in the major or Honours program, the student may substitute toward
      the minor any course(s) approved for this purpose by the Department of Mathematics.
 Music: For requirements see the Faculty of Music program descriptions.
 Philosophy: Both PY110 and PY111 or two of PY256, PY259,
      PY261, PY262, PY263, PY264, and two senior credits.
 Physics: PC100* (or PC110* with Departmental approval); PC210
      and PC211; PC230 and PC231 or another senior credit.
 Political Science: PO100*, or PO110 and PO111, and two credits at the senior
      level one of which must be taken in Canadian Politics as approved by the Department.
 Psychology: PS100* and two credits at the senior level, including at
      least a half credit from each of the following groups:
 Group I:
 PS208, PS209, PS211, PS228
 Group II :
 PS205, PS206, PS207, PS214*, PS215, PS216, PS217, PS226, PS236*
 Group III:
 PS204*, PS222, PS231, PS233*, PS234, PS238, PS305, PS306*
 Religion and Culture: Three credits, two of which must be at the senior level.
 Social Welfare: SL100*, SL201, SL202, SL301, SL302.
 Sociology: SY100*, SY203*, one senior credit in Sociology.
 Spanish: SP201, SP202, SP205, SP206, SP211, SP212.
 Statistics: MA122, MA140* or MA240, MA245, and any three of MA340,
      MA341, MA342, MA343, MA345, MA349, MA490, MA492. Should any of the required
      courses for the minor in Statistics also be required in the major or Honours program, the student
      may substitute toward the minor any course(s) approved for this purpose by the Department of
      Mathematics.
 Third World Studies: TW200; two credits from AN337 (cross-listed as
      SY337), EC207, GG367, HI329*, SY338, and either both PO227 and PO228 or both PO231
      and PO232; plus a half credit from the lists in 2 and 3(b) and (c) of the Third World Studies
      major program.
 Urban Studies: US201, US202, US301 and one and a half credits from the
      list of elective and methodology courses in the Urban Studies Option, but no more than a half
      credit may be obtained in methodology courses. Honours or major students may not count
      courses from their Honours or major discipline toward the minor.
