school of business and economics SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS The School of Business and Economics is comprised of the Department of Business and the Department of Economics, a partnership which is traditional at Wilfrid Laurier University. The School of Business and Economics believes that the combination of the two disciplines in a single administrative unit adds greatly to the quality and flexibility of all graduates at the school. The Department of Business offers a four-year Honours Bachelor of Business Administration Program, a Diploma in Accounting, a Diploma in Management Studies and a Diploma in Business Administration. In addition, it offers courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Institute of Canadian Bankers, Canadian Institute of Certified Administrative Managers, Trust Companies Institute of Canada, Society of Management Accountants of Ontario, Canadian Credit Union Institute, Appraisal Institute of Canada, Insurance Institute of Canada, Real Estate Institute of Canada, Ontario Society for Training and Development, Personnel Association of Ontario, and The Purchasing Management Association of Canada. The Department of Economics offers a four-year Honours Economics program including options in administration, and in finance and accounting, and joint Honours Economics programs with other disciplines in the Faculty of Arts and Science. As well, it offers an economics major in the General Arts program. The co-operative option of the BBA and the Honours Economics programs, by an alternating sequence of work and study terms, provides students with 12 months of practical work experience during their academic career. The School of Business and Economics offers a variety of courses in the evening to individuals who wish to enhance their business or professional careers.
