The development of the novel will be discussed as well as the
literary trends and social and political history that they
reflect. The most important novelists of the period are studied
and analyzed with particular attention to Chateaubriand,
Constant, Stendhal, Balzac, Flaubert, Maupassant, and Zola.
 
Prerequisite: FR155* or FR205*.
