 The Making of the Third World: Historical Origins
and Development

The peoples of Asia, Latin America, and Africa have developed a
shared identity out of a common history of resistance to
colonialism. With particular attention to the period 1870-1970,
the course explores the creation of a world divided by wealth and
power, the rise of colonialism, the process of decolonization in
the context of the Cold War, and the ideology and legacy of
revolutionary guerrilla warfare.
