Exchange Programs
Wilfrid Laurier University has agreements with universities in other countries to provide an
annual exchange which permits the student to complete one year of a program of study abroad.
In some instances for an exchange to take place it is required that an equal number of students
from each of the two universities be involved.
Application forms and the names of the individual co-ordinators are
available at the reception desk at the Office of the Registrar.
Philipps University, Marburg, Federal Republic of
Germany Wilfrid Laurier University has an agreement with Philipps University that provides
for an annual exchange between the two institutions of up to four students. To be eligible,
Laurier students must have completed at least two years of a program of study, be in good
academic standing, and have adequate linguistic competence: in particular it is expected that
WLU students be able to understand some German and be willing to immerse themselves in that
language. The two universities have agreed that tuition fees and room and board expenses shall
be paid at the home university and that the rate shall be that of the home university. WLU
students shall receive accommodation and a monthly cost of living subsidy from Philipps
University for a period of up to 10 months. The program is available to students from any
faculty or department in the University. Applications must be submitted by January 4th. For

A Viessman Travel Scholarship valued at DM 1.500
is available to one Wilfrid Laurier University exchange student each year for travel to Philipps
University, Germany.
Nice, France The Department of French Language co-operates with
corresponding departments at three other Ontario universities in operating a Third-Year Abroad
Program at the University of Nice, France. Details are available from the Department of French
Language and Literature.
Ontario/Baden-Wurttenberg Student Exchange Program The
universities of Ontario offer fifty students the opportunity to study at a university in Ontario's
sister province of Baden-Wurttenberg. This program is made possible through an agreement
between the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities and the Baden-Wurttenberg Ministry
of Science and Art.
Applications must be submitted to the Co-ordinator by January 4th of the
year preceding the exchange.
Ontario/Rhone-Alpes Student Exchange Program The universities
of Ontario offer thirty students the opportunity to study at a university in the Rhone-Alpes region
of France, with which the province of Ontario has established a special relationship in
co-operation with the post-secondary institutions of both jurisdictions.
Applications must be submitted to the Co-ordinator by December 1st of the
year preceding the exchange.
