Wilfrid Laurier University offers programs of study leading to General degrees in arts and science (BA and BSc) and music (BA Music Major). The attainment of these degrees normally requires three years of study, but this work may be accomplished in two years if studies are pursued in two regular sessions and two spring sessions. Each student selects a major subject and is assured of a liberal breadth of studies. Honours programs require four years of study and lead to an Honours degree (BA, BBA, BSc, BMus, or BMusTh). The candidate for an Honours degree selects a particular subject or combination of two subjects which is studied in greater depth than students who register for a General degree. The four-year program is arranged to provide mastery of a particular subject or subjects with a liberal education of some depth. All students become acquainted with a variety of subjects, especially in the first year. Both plans of study provide a measure of concentration, which is developed to a greater extent in the Honours programs. To enable students to pursue specialized fields in still greater depth, the University has established the Faculty of Graduate Studies, which includes Masters programs in arts, business administration, social work and theology, as well as several doctoral programs. Wilfrid Laurier University attempts to limit enrolment so that all students may benefit from personal contact with members of the faculty. Emphasis on good teaching and individual attention is a tradition at Wilfrid Laurier University. The University is prepared to give fair and empathetic consideration to applicants with documented learning disabilities. Careful reviews will be made on an individual case-by-case basis.
