BACHELOR OF ARTS WITH MUSIC MAJOR The BA with a major in Music offers the student a good liberal arts background with some specialization in music. The courses in theory and history of music are designed to provide fundamental knowledge of the subjects, while the elective courses allow the student to pursue other interests in music; for example, the Faculty of Music's courses in elementary music education are available to students in the Music major program. The program consists of 15 credits and is normally completed in three years. A minor or second major from the Faculty of Arts and Science may be chosen in consultation with that Faculty. While academic counselling is always available from faculty members, the student makes the final choice in the selection of elective courses to satisfy the requirements for the degree. Program Requirements The 15 credits that must be successfully completed for the degree shall include the following: 1. Theory: Either MU116* or MU161, MU162, MU136 or MU186 , and MU137 or MU187 .
