PRACTICUM OPTION
The practicum program is available to Music students in Third
and/or Fourth Year. The program is essentially a work term during
which students are employed in projects directly related to their
musical interests. The Faculty of Music will assist students to
find employment, but the primary responsibility for locating
employment rests with the student. Salary arrangements are
negotiated by the employer and the student. Credit for MU350 and
MU450 is granted on the basis of a final report from the
practicum supervisor who is usually the employer. No grade will
be reported but rather the designation credit or non-credit.

 Regulations
 1.
Application for the practicum should be made well in
advance of the March pre-registration prior to the academic year
in which the practicum is to be taken. Applicants should include
a brief written description of the proposed project, prepared in
consultation with a member of the faculty.
 2.
Applicants will be considered for practicum during any
      academic term.
 3.
Students approved for the practicum will register for
the full three terms: spring, fall and winter.
 4.
A practicum project may cover two academic terms of
      part-time study and work.
 5.
The number of credits in which a student may be enrolled
concurrently with practicum shall depend on the amount of time
required by the work term. Normally the work assignment is full
time; however, a minimum of 15 to 20 hours per week over one
term, or 8 to 10 hours per week over two terms, will usually
      satisfy the requirements
 6.
Students are required to complete a report on their
      practicum assignment.
 7.
Students who elect the practicum must complete all
academic requirements for the program in which they are
      registered.
