This course considers the social organization, social impact and
social meaning of the media of mass communication. Some topics
will be: models of mass communication; the roles of regulators,
communicators and gatekeepers in the creation of media content,
the nature of media content; the question of effects, and the
mass audience. (Cross-listed as CS308)
Prerequisite: SY203* or SY280 or SY281 (or permission of the
Department).
