A study of form in a varied selection of modern English prose,
mainly non-fictional (e.g. autobiographies, essays, travelogues, etc.). 
The course explores typical patterns of organization, modes of narration, 
exposition, argument, and description, and the relation of structure to 
style. The aim is to foster accuracy, enjoyment, and critical 
understanding in reading at the university level. Writing assignments 
will encourage students to develop in their own work some of the 
strategies and qualities examined in the course texts.
