An examination of the British Empire-Commonwealth. Attention will
be given to the growth of empire, the institutional framework, the imperial
biographies, and seapower and communications. Attention will also be 
given to native peoples, colonial economics, decolonization, and the 
history of the Commonwealth ideal.
