Emotions are studied as a basic class of mental events. The
evolutionary necessity of emotion is examined, and research relating 
emotion to physiology and behaviour is presented. The nature of positive 
emotion is analyzed and related to self-actualization, social evolution, 
and love. (Students wishing to take both PS207 and PS217 should take
PS207 first.)
