Writing Centre
Co-ordinator: Emmy Misser, MA, Ext. 3339
Office Location: Room 3-103, Central Teaching Building
The Writing Centre gives writing instruction to both
individual students and groups of students. The goal of the Centre
is to help students develop their ideas clearly and logically and
present them in an organized and coherent form.

The Writing Centre is open for individual consultations the
first four days of the week. Students bring already marked papers
for discussion and are encouraged to come back in order to work
actively with the Co-ordinator on their particular area of
difficulty. Consultations last approximately 45 minutes, and
appointments should be booked in advance.

The Co-ordinator of the Centre also gives discipline-specific
writing presentations on request Generic writing presentations are
tailored to suit the needs of each specific course. Presentations
range from one or two visits to the development of a graded
writing component. In such a case, writing assignments are
introduced by the Writing Centre Co-ordinator and marked by senior
Honours English students, specially trained for marking and
tutoring.
