students and alumni in their career planning and job search. There
are three primary services offered by the department: career
advising, career information, and employment services for
part-time, summer, contract, and permanent job openings.

Career planning services are provided on an individual
and group basis to involve students in examining their interests,
abilities, values, goals, and opportunities as part of the career
decision-making process. A Career Information Centre is available
to students seeking information on topics such as educational
programs, work/study/ travel abroad, careers, graduate admission
tests, job search techniques, and potential employers.

A Graduate Employment Program is available to all students
completing their final year of a degree or diploma program. Through
this program, employers interview students during the Fall and
Winter semesters for permanent employment available upon
graduation. In addition, graduates may register with the Alumni
Referral Service. A Summer and Part-time Employment Service is also
offered. A Recruitment Fair for graduating students and a Job Fair
for summer, contract, and permanent jobs are also held annually.

Throughout the year, the department sponsors several programs
to familiarize students with a variety of occupations. These
include events such as Careers Expo, Teacher Education Sessions,
and a Careers in... series. A newsletter entitled 'For Your
Information', containing information related to educational,
career, and employment opportunities, is published and distributed
to students, staff, and faculty. Workshops on resume writing, job
interview preparation, career planning, and job search are also
offered for interested students.
