The Assistant Vice-President: Student Services/Dean of Students works to ensure that the quality of student life and the total University environment is conducive to intellectual and personal growth. The office is accountable for the development, direction, implementation of non-academic student life policies, for regulations, programs and those Student Services essential to the well-being and growth of all Laurier students.
The Dean oversees and administers the following Student Services: Athletics and Recreation, Career Services and Co-operative Education, Conference Facilities, Counselling Services, Food Services, Health Services, International Student Advisor, Residence Services, the University Chaplains, Special Needs Office and the Office of the Associate Dean of Students.

Within the framework of Student Services and under the direction of the Assistant Vice-President: Student Services/Dean of Students, the mandate of the Associate Dean of Students is to develop and deliver programs, provide services and support, enhance learning, and contribute to the students' total educational experience. Concerned with the quality of student life at Laurier, the Associate Dean of Students addresses the needs of students through specific Student Services programs and by working in partnership with faculty and others to ensure that the total University environment is conducive to intellectual and personal growth.
Specific functions of this office include: Orientation, residence life, concentration on the First-Year student experience, special student populations, forming links between educational and student services, research into student needs, and providing resource and referral support.

Students from more than 40 countries are currently studying at Laurier. They chose Laurier because of the quality programs, helpful faculty, small classes, compact campus, and the fact that Laurier graduates are in demand for jobs in Canada and around the world. There are Laurier graduates in more than 75 countries.
The Office of the International Student Advisor has services and resources that assist students before they leave home, while on campus, and to prepare for the journey home. Internationalization is a priority of Wilfrid Laurier University and the International Student Advisor interacts extensively with the entire university community to ensure our students' excellent educational experiences. Specific duties include the recruitment of international students, the promotion of the University, admissions, transition assistance and orientation, academic and personal advising, resource liaison, referrals, the delivery of services and student life research.
