Concurrent Degree/Diploma Program:
Bachelor of Arts Degree and Career Development Practitioner Certificate Program

Students may obtain a BA degree from the University and a certificate from Conestoga College in the Career Development Practitioner (CDPC) program. The program aims to provide students simultaneously with a theoretical background (through a liberal arts degree) and competency in the practical application of this theory in a career development context (through the college courses). The latter includes courses in areas such as life-span development, group and career counselling, and assessment and consulting.

Students who are interested in the combined BA/CDPC program ordinarily apply for admission after they have been admitted to the First Year of their undergraduate degree. Students must apply before the end of their second term in Year Two.

Students should be aware that the CDPC program at Conestoga College is a limited enrolment program. You are therefore encouraged to apply for admission early in First Year. Application forms are available in the Office of the Registrar and through the offices of the Dean. Because of the complexity involved in scheduling both university and college certificate courses, students must consult with the office of the Dean early in First Year for academic counselling.

Students must satisfy all the requirements for their degree program and the CDPC program, and complete the Core courses listed below. This may mean that students are required to complete more than the minimum numbers of credits in their degree program.

Core Courses [six credits]:
BU121; EC120 or EC140; PS100*, PS284, PS397; SY100*, SY224; either PS291 and PS292, or SY280 and SY382, (or any other approved credit in Research Methods and Statistics); a 200 level half-credit course developed jointly by the Consortium universities (Waterloo and Guelph) and Conestoga College.

Courses equivalent to these core courses are available from the other Consortium universities. Students wishing to take such courses should consult the Office of the Dean.
