Honours BA English Language and Literature

The Honours English program consists of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent), including a minimum of 12 but no more than 14 credits in English. At most, six credits may be at the 100 level, and of the required 12 credits in English no more than 1.5 may be at the 100 level.

Required Courses:
EN122* (or, with permission of the Department, EN118 and EN130);
At least three of: EN272*, EN352*, EN453*, EN454*.
At least three of: EN256*, EN258* (or EN462*), EN355*, EN357*.
At least two of: EN218, EN265, EN266, EN267, EN269, of which at least one must be either EN267 or EN269.
A minimum of two credits distributed over two or more of the following lists:
Theory: EN291, EN302, EN333, FS341
Culture: EN211, EN212, EN225, EN226, EN325, FS240, FS241, FS242, FS243, FS245, FS248, FS343
Genre: EN203, EN207, EN233, EN234, EN322, EN326, EN345, EN346
At least two but no more than four additional credits consisting of any English courses not already taken.

Note: For students wishing to graduate with a degree in Honours English with the Theatre minor, the minimum number of English credits required is 12, and the maximum number of credits in both English and Theatre courses is 15; for students graduating with Honours English with the Theatre major, the minimum number of English credits required is 12, and the maximum number of credits in both English and Theatre courses is 17.
