Faculty of Music
The combined Honours BA Music program consists of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent). Not more than six of these may be at the 100 level. A minimum of eight credits is required in Music, of which six must be at the senior level.
The required Music courses (five and a half credits) include:
Theory: MU161, MU162, MU266, MU268.
Musical Skills: MU186º, MU187º, MU286º, MU287º.
Music History: MU171, MU270, MU271, and one elective from the MU370 series.
Twentieth-century: MU375 or MU461 or MU462.
The elective music courses (two and a half credits) shall be taken in one or more of the following subjects: music history, theory, psychology of music, musical aesthetics, world music.
Registration in additional music credits in practical study, ensemble, and composition requires permission of the Dean of Music.
Admission to the program requires meeting the admission requirements of the Honours BA program in the Faculty of Arts or Science and successful completion of an audition and a theory placement test.
