This course covers major topics in supply chain management, and helps develop skills in understanding, designing and managing the flow of goods and information between a firm, its suppliers and its customers. Topics covered include logistics; customer service; order processing; transportation decisions; forecasting; inventory management; warehousing and handling of goods; supply scheduling; product design and packaging for logistics; and logistic organization and control. Important current issues discussed include: centralization and risk pooling, information sharing, third party logistics and other strategic alliances, international distribution and information technology for supply chain management. |
