 A comprehensive and integrated study of painting, sculpture, architecture and photography produced in 19th-century Europe. Political, social and cultural transformations are examined as they affect the origins of modern art. Topics include Neo-Classicism, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, as well as the roles of art academies, the avant-garde and women artists.  |
