The artistic, literary, and intellectual culture of western and central Europe prior to 1880. Particular attention will be paid to developing the ability to analyze and compare representations of the cultural life of French, German, Italian and Hispanic peoples. (Taught in English.)

An insight into the use of computers in language learning, as well as an introduction to effective teaching methodologies involving technology. A survey and evaluation of current language software used in teaching environments will lead to the design of a small multimedia program/Web site that constructively teaches an appropriate aspect of language.

Prerequisite: Registration status: senior student.
