Honours BA Philosophy

The Honours Philosophy program consists of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent), of which not more than six may be at the 100 level. The program must include at least 11 but no more than 13 credits in Philosophy.

Core Courses (four credits):
PY110 and PY111 (or equivalent); PY204; PY207; three of PY256, PY259, PY261, PY262, PY263, PY264; a half-credit Fourth Year seminar.

Area Courses (three credits):

  1. at least a half-credit in history
    (PY360)
  2. at least one and a half credits in values
    (PY203, PY213, PY215, PY216, PY217, PY218, PY223, PY224, PY230, PY233, PY247, PY480)
  3. at least one full-credit in metaphysics and epistemology
    (PY209, PY214, PY225, PY226, PY229, PY239, PY249, PY304, PY309, PY470)

Elective Courses (four to six credits):
Elective courses in Philosophy must include at least four credits, but may include up to six credits.
At least three full-credits among area courses and elective courses must be at the 300 or 400 level.
