An overview of the traditions of theatre production.

Prerequisite: Permission of the Co-ordinating Committee.

TR111 Theory and Practice of Public Performance 0.5

An examination of the experience of public performance including a wide variety of public presentations in addition to acting in the theatre.

Prerequisite: TR101 or permission of the Co-ordinating Committee.

TR200 Theatre Practicum I 0.5

Intensive study of a particular area of production-related activities.

Prerequisite: TR101 or permission of the Co-ordinating Committee.

TR201 Special Topics in Theatre 0.5

Exploration of some specific aspect of the craft of the theatre.

Prerequisite: TR101 or permission of the Co-ordinating Committee.

TR221 Acting in the Classical Theatre 0.5

Studies in the history of staging conventions in relation to dramatic form. The focus will be on traditional and contemporary approaches to characterization in the interpretation of pre-contemporary drama.

TR229 Acting in the Modern Theatre 0.5

Studies in the theories of performance as applied to a variety of modern plays. Textual analysis and interpretation will focus on characterization in both realistic and non-realistic dramatic forms.

TR234 Social Action Theatre 0.5

The theories and practices of Brecht, Boal, and contemporary international theatre groups dedicated to using theatre for social change.

Intensive study of a particular area of production-related activities.
