In First Year, the student is expected to select introductory courses in a wide variety of subjects so as to have completed the required introductory courses for several possible Honours or major programs prior to Second Year, as well as, particularly for General programs, to have fulfilled the Course Distribution requirements. The student is advised to seek academic counselling from the Office of the Dean, the chairs of departments, program co-ordinators or from members of the faculty.

In all cases, however, it is the student's responsibility to select courses satisfying all requirements of the degree.
