Honours BSc Mathematics and Computing

The Honours BSc Computing and Mathematics program consists of a minimum of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent) including 8.5 credits in Computing and 8.5 credits in Mathematics, and must include the following:

First Year

1.5 additional credits of senior CP courses, at least one credit of which must be at the 400 level. (See Note 2 below.)
2.0 additional credits of senior MA courses, at least one credit of which must be at the 300 or 400 level. (See Note 3 below.)

  1. While the above schedule constitutes the recommended sequence by which all program requirements are satisfied, other valid sequences are possible. However, many of the required courses have one or more prerequisites and students are advised to be cautious in departing from the recommended schedule. MA331 is normally offered every other year.
  2. The program must include at least two elective credits of senior Computing courses, at least one credit of which must be at the 400 level.
  3. The program must include at least one credit of 400 level Mathematics courses.
  4. For progression, students must meet both condition A and B in each year of the program:
    Year 1 to 2:
    A. GPA of 6.0 in MA credits and GPA of 5.0 in all other credits
    B. GPA of 6.0 in CP credits and GPA of 5.0 in all other credits
    Year 2 to 3, Year 3 to 4 and for graduation:
    A. GPA of 7.0 in MA credits and GPA of 5.0 in all other credits
    B. GPA of 7.0 in CP credits and GPA of 5.0 in all other credits
  5. Senior Honours students are expected to attend all departmental seminars.
