Regulations for Combining Honours with Other Programs

Honours students may choose to organize their elective courses to meet the requirements for a major, minor or option in a subject other than the honours discipline(s). Additional courses may have to be taken to fulfill these requirements.

Students combining honours disciplines with other programs must meet the following regulations:

  1. All requirements for the major, minor or option, must be fulfilled. (See Regulations Governing All General Programs, the BA Major, the BSc Major and Regulations Governing All Minors.) Curriculum Division A, B and C requirements need not be fulfilled unless specified in the student's honours program. Progression in the general-level major is governed by the regulations that determine progression in general degree programs.
  2. The student must achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 5.00 on all courses of the major or option, or a cumulative GPA of at least 4.5 on all courses of the minor subject. If a major or minor requires a higher GPA, that GPA applies.
  3. An honours student may receive designation for only one general major and/or option other than the Administration, Co-operative Education and Professional Experience Program Options.
  4. An honours student may receive designation for only one of the Co-operative Education and Professional Experience Program Options.
