Undergraduate Admissions


Programs of Study – Degree Specific Requirements

Applicants are required to present a total of six OACs (or equivalent) including the required credits noted for a program. The Administration Option is available for all Honours BA or Honours BSc programs and is indicated at the time of registration.

APPLICANTS WHO SUBMIT AN ACADEMIC RECORD THAT CONSISTS OF COURSES FROM BOTH THE OAC AND GRADE 12 U AND U/C LEVEL CURRICULUM WILL BE CONSIDERED EQUALLY AND ASSESSED INDIVIDUALLY.
ARTS (BA) DEGREE PROGRAMS

Canadian Studies, Global Studies, Greek, Latin and Women's Studies are offered only in combination with a second major.
OAC English at 60 percent and five other OACs.
Honours Psychology: An OAC Mathematics recommended.

Note: The English literature, French, German and Spanish majors normally require a minimum average of 66 percent in the honours subject area at the OAC level.

Strongly recommended: OAC Kinesiology or Physical Education.
Note: The General (three-year) Bachelor of Arts Kinesiology and Physical Education program Pointer is available only for those students who do not maintain the academic standing as stipulated in the Honours Kinesiology and Physical Education program description given in the Faculty of Science chapter. Those students who must transfer to the general program, must complete the courses and meet the academic standing criteria stipulated in the General BA program section of the same chapter. Honours Kinesiology and Physical Education is a limited enrolment program and therefore, students will not be admitted directly to the general program.

Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), with Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc) Computing and Computer Electronics or Computer ScienceOAC English and OAC Calculus at 60 percent, OAC Algebra and Geometry and OAC Physics – a combined minimum average of 70 percent is required in the OAC Mathematics and OAC Science courses; and two other OACs.
Eligible for direct entry into co-op program.

MUSIC DEGREE PROGRAMS

Honours Bachelor of Music (BMus)OAC English at 60 percent and five other OACs.
For all prospective BMus students: Grade II conservatory theory or its equivalent.
Students must meet the Faculty of Music requirements in piano proficiency (approximately equivalent to grade VI) before being admitted to second year of the degree program.
For prospective piano and organ students: a minimum level of grade IX conservatory level piano or its equivalent.
For prospective students in voice or instruments other than organ or piano: there is no required grade, although grade VIII conservatory-level may be taken as a guide to the minimum required.
All prospective students must have an audition-interview with the Faculty of Music, to be arranged by appointment by April 1; the audition is valid for one year only. Applicants are required to perform two compositions (pianists: four compositions) in contrasting styles in their own performance medium, to sight-read, and to write a theory placement test. For specific requirements, consult the Faculty of Music. Late applicants will be considered if space permits.
Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) Music in Combination with Another Honours BA programOAC English at 60 percent and five other OACs.
Grade II conservatory theory or equivalent.
Grade VIII conservatory-level may be taken as a guide to the minimum level of performance expected of students wishing to study an instrument as part of their degree program.
All prospective music students must have an audition-interview with the Faculty of Music, to be arranged by appointment by April 1; the audition is valid for one year only.
