GM340 Jewish Cultural Expressions in the 20th Century German Speaking World 0.5

This course presents literary and artistic expressions of Jewish intellectual and popular culture in Berlin, Vienna and Prague from 1900 to 1938, Jewish self-expressions in mourning of the Holocaust, current debates about the German memory of the Holocaust and the most recent developments concerning Jewish life and culture in today's German Speaking World. (Note: this course is taught in English, and students registered in honours or general German are required to attend a weekly tutorial held in German)

Prerequisite: Registration status: senior student, or permission of the department.
