Honours BA Philosophy

The Honours Philosophy program consists of 20.0 credits (or equivalent), of which not more than 6.0 may be at the 100 level. The program must include at least 11.0 but no more than 13.0 credits in Philosophy.

Core Courses (4.0 credits):
PY110 and PY111 (or equivalent); PY204; PY207; three of PY256/CL256, PY259/CL259, PY261, PY262, PY263, PY264;
0.5 credit Year 4 seminar.

Area Courses (3.0 credits):

  1. a minimum of a 0.5 credit in history
    (PY360)
  2. a minimum of 1.5 credits in values
    (PY203, PY213, PY215/FI215, PY216, PY217, PY218, PY223, PY224, PY230, PY233, PY247, PY480)
  3. a minimum of 1.0 credit in metaphysics and epistemology
    (PY209/RE209, PY214, PY225, PY226, PY229, PY239, PY249, PY304, PY309, PY470)

Elective Courses (4.0 to 6.0 credits):
Elective courses in Philosophy must include at least 4.0 credits, but may include up to 6.0 credits.
At least 3.0 credits among area courses and elective courses must be at the 300 or 400 level. This in addition to the Core course 0.5-credit Year 4 seminar.
