The program consists of 20.0 credits (or equivalent), of which not more than 6.0 may be at the 100 level. The program must include a minimum of 11.0 credits (2.0 at the 400 level) and may include a maximum of 13.0 credits in Sociology. The program must also include AN101 and an additional 0.5 credit in Anthropology.
AN101 is included in calculations of Honours Sociology GPA and progression requirements. For admission to Year 2 a GPA of 6.0 is required in SY101, SY102 and AN101.
Year 1
SY101, SY102 (or SY100*), AN101
3.5 elective credits
Year 2
SY203*, SY204*, SY280, SY281
2.0 credits including a minimum of a 0.5 credit in Sociology and a minimum of 1.0 elective credit approved by the department.
Year 3
SY382; either SY387 or SY388
4.0 credits including at least 2.5 in Sociology and at least 1.0 elective credit approved by the department.
(Except where otherwise stated, all students taking 300 level courses are required to have the prerequisite of one of SY203*, SY280, SY281 or permission of the department.)
Year 4
SY400*
2.0 credits in Sociology, 1.0 or more of which should be at the 400 level.
2.0 elective credits approved by the department.
(Except where otherwise stated, all students taking 400 level courses are required to have the prerequisite of either SY387 or SY388 or permission of the department.)
