School of Business & Economics

Introduction

The School of Business and Economics is comprised of the Department of Business and the Department of Economics, a partnership which is traditional at Wilfrid Laurier University. The School of Business and Economics believes that the combination of the two disciplines in a single administrative unit adds greatly to the quality and flexibility of all graduates at the school.

The Department of Business offers a four-year Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program leading to careers in various fields, such as accounting (CA, CMA, CGA), finance, marketing, operations management and organizational behaviour (human resources). The double degree honours programs in Business and Computer Science or Computing and Computer Electronics (BBA/BSc), and the degree in Business and Science (BBSc) combining the Business and Chemistry disciplines are offered on a cross-faculty basis. A joint double degree program is available, combining the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and the Honours Bachelor of Mathematics program from the University of Waterloo. This program offers a unique educational experience for students in the field of business and the mathematical sciences.

The Department of Economics offers four-year Honours BA programs in: Economics, Economics and Accounting, Economics and Administration, and Economics and Financial Management. Joint Honours Economics programs with other honours disciplines in the faculties of Arts or Science are available. The department also offers an Economics major in the General BA degree program.

The Co-operative Education Option of the BBA and the Honours Economics programs, by an alternating sequence of work and study terms, provides students with 12 months of practical work experience during their academic career.

The School of Business and Economics offers a variety of courses in the evening to individuals who wish to enhance their business or professional careers.
