Course Description

GM310 Advanced German I 0.5

This course offers an intensive practice in oral and written German on the proficiency level, with emphasis on the idiomatic use of the language. Besides offering a thorough review of advanced grammar, attention will be given to style, to the special features of different text-types and to various dialects and social distinctions in language use. It will also equip students with the skills to work efficiently with authentic German texts and widen their knowledge of contemporary German culture and current affairs in the German-speaking countries.

Prerequisite: GM210, GM211 or two years of university German or permission of the department.
3 lecture hours, 1 lab hour, 1 conversation hour
