Course Description

NE102 Myth, Epic and Poetry of the Ancient Near East and Egypt 0.5

An examination of significant literary compositions. This may include creation myths, heroic tales, fables, hymns, prayers, and rituals and incantations. Emphasis will be upon Egypt and Mesopotamia, but compositions from other cultures such as those of the Hittites or people of Ugarit may be discussed as well.

Exclusion: HI308/RE308, HI309/RE309.
