DI200 Development 0.5

The factors surrounding the internal and external strains on developing nations or peoples are examined. Issues arising from social, economic, political and environmental interconnections and mutual dependencies will be considered, among which are political and cultural change, production, marketing and debt. Specific regions will be investigated according to the expertise of the instructor and interests of students. Appropriate case studies and theories of development will be critiqued.

Prerequisite: DI100 or permission of the Co-ordinating Committee.
