This work takes its title and inspiration from the I Ching Hexagram #11, often translated as 'Peace'. The hexagram depicts a meeting of heaven and earth and the promise of new beginnings. Consisting essentially of a simple melodic line with occasional flourishes, the work highlights the colour differences between the two eight foot manuals of the harpsichord and was influenced in a loose way by the music of the Chinese zheng.
