Honours Anthropology and Development Studies (**New**)

The Honours Anthropology and Development Studies program consists of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent), including AN101, AN102, DI100, EC140 and at most four additional credits at the 100 level. A minimum GPA of 6.0 in AN101, AN102 and a GP of at least 6.0 in DI100 are required for progression into the second year of the program; for progression into subsequent years, and for graduation, the cumulative GPA will be calculated on the Anthropology and Development Studies courses combined.

Required Senior Courses:
AN210, AN300, AN337/DI337, AN371; one of AN201, AN203, AN205, AN222; two of AN206, AN207, AN208, AN213, AN221; two of AN306, AN329, AN330, AN340; two of AN321, AN332, AN333/SY333, AN338/SY338; one of AN405, AN456, SY406; DI340D (or equivalent; see Note 2), DI400; EC207 or GG263; either both EN211 and EN212, or both PO227 and PO228, or both GG367 and RE285; one credit from DI300, DI310*, DI350, DI360*, HI329*, HI336, PO318, PO319; two credits of 300 or 400 level Anthropology or Development Studies courses, of which one credit is normally AN450* or AN454*.

Notes:

  1. Students are advised, when choosing electives, to give special attention to the prerequisites for senior courses, particularly in economics, geography and political science. Although the prerequisites for SY406 are waived for students in this program, SY100* is strongly recommended.
  2. At least one half-credit of Development Studies courses must be taken abroad. Students should consult the Co-ordinator for information on specific courses which satisfy this requirement.
  3. It is strongly recommended that students acquire adequate verbal and/or written communications skills in at least one foreign language.
