FI314 French Impressionism: Light on Modern Life 0.5

The origins and development of Impressionism in France are examined within the social, political and intellectual context of the period from the 1860s to the 1890s. Current interpretations of Impressionism and its cultural significance are demonstrated with recent art historical methodologies.

Prerequisite: FI100*, and either FI220 or FI250*, (or permission of the Co-ordinating Committee).
