Honours BSc Biology and Mathematics

The Honours BSc Biology and Mathematics program consists of a minimum of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent), including at least six and a half senior credits in each of Biology and Mathematics. Not more than six credits may be at the 100 level. The program must include at least one credit in each of Botany and Zoology, as determined by the Department of Biology.

Required Courses:
BI100*, BI490*, BI491 and at least one additional Biology credit at the 400 level
CH100*, CH200*; CP102 or CP104
MA101, MA102, MA121, MA122, MA200, MA201, MA215, MA222, MA240, MA242, MA250, MA323 and at least two additional Mathematics credits at the 300 or 400 level including at least one at the 400 level.

Notes:

  1. For progression into the Second Year of the program, the requirements include a minimum GPA of 6.00 in MA101, MA102, MA121, and MA122, and a minimum GP of 6.00 in BI100*. For progression into the Third and Fourth Years of the program, and for graduation, the requirements include a minimum cumulative GPA of 7.00 in Biology and Mathematics courses combined.
  2. Senior Honours students are expected to attend all departmental seminars.
  3. Electives must include at least a half-credit in Curriculum Division A (excluding Mathematics) and a half-credit in Curriculum Division B.
  4. The following is a suggested schedule within which all program requirements can be met:

First Year
BI100*, CH100*; CP102 or CP104; MA101, MA102, MA121, MA122
One half-credit elective

Second Year
Two Biology elective credits
CH200*, MA200, MA201, MA240, MA242

Third Year
Two Biology elective credits
MA215, MA222, MA250
One Mathematics elective credit (MA205 is recommended)
One half-credit elective

Fourth Year
BI490*, BI491, MA323
One Biology elective credit
One and a half Mathematics elective credits
One half-credit elective
