The Wilfrid Laurier University Students' Union provides for the needs of students. One of the many services WLUSU offers is a self-operated Extended Health Benefits Plan. The health plan is mandatory for all full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the fall term on-campus, including co-op students on work term. An opt-out option is available to all students; however, even if students have coverage, they are encouraged to remain on this plan as benefits from various plans can be co-ordinated to offer even better coverage.

Student can obtain benefits information or the appropriate opt-out forms from the third floor of the Fred Nichols Campus Centre or from the Students' Union Web site. In order to opt-out of the plan, students must complete the appropriate opt-out form and are required to provide proof of alternative coverage. The documents must be received in the Students' Union Health Plan office no later than the end of the second week of fall term. The annual cost is $84.41 and covers 80 percent of prescription drugs, chiropractor (up to $500.00), registered massage therapy (up to $500.00), physiotherapists (up to $500.00), and most other practitioners (up to $500.00 each), vision care (PVS Discount and reimbursement of $50.00 every 24 months), out of province/country benefits and a full range of accidental insurance benefits.
