CA100* Canadian Society and Culture 1.0

A lecture/tutorial class offering a broad survey of the political, cultural, social, economic and physical aspects of modern Canada. The course will be multi-disciplinary within an historical focus.

Exclusion: CA200*.

CA201 Québec Contexts 0.5

This course examines the sources of Québécois identity in fiction, film, theatre and non-fiction. It also explores recent political, economic, and social developments in Québec, along with their impact on public policy. Finally, it examines Québec's relations with the rest of Canada, and the situation of Francophones outside of Quebec. (Cross-listed as PO201.)

Prerequisite: CA100* or PO110 and PO111.

CA202 Canadian Communities and Cultures 0.5

An examination of political, economic, social and cultural developments which impact upon the public policy of the Federal government and the governments of the First Nations, provinces and territories, other than Québec.

Prerequisite: CA100* or permission of the co-ordinating committee.

A seminar course required for Canadian Studies majors. Themes will vary with the instructor.

CA401 Honours Seminar in Canadian Issues 0.5

The course integrates interdisciplinary theory and practice in the examination of selected issues in Canadian studies.

Prerequisite: CA301 or permission of the CA program office.
