Students at Wilfrid Laurier University may obtain a BSc degree in Physics from the university concurrently with a diploma from the School of Engineering Technology at Conestoga College. The aim of this integrated program is to provide students simultaneously with a theoretical background (through the Physics degree) and competency in the practical application of this theory in a technological context (through the college courses). This is accomplished by combining the requirements for the General Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Physics with those of the Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) diploma offered at Conestoga College, in order that a student could complete the joint program in four years rather than the six years which might be necessary if the two were taken sequentially.
Students who are interested in obtaining both the BSc degree from Laurier and the EET diploma from Conestoga College would ordinarily apply for the combined BSc/EET program at the time of admission to year one of their undergraduate degree. Application forms are available in the Office of the Registrar.
In addition to any courses specified by Conestoga College for the combined program (in areas such as electronics and telecommunications), students must complete the 12.0 General Physics BSc degree core credits listed below, and must satisfy all progression and graduation requirements in both the degree and diploma programs, together with any other faculty or residence requirements, (refer to Academic Regulations in the University Regulations chapter).
Core General BSc Physics Courses: [12.0 credits]
MA103, MA104, MA201, MA205; PC131, PC132, PC200º, PC201º, PC210, PC211, PC221, PC237, PC342* (or PC321 and PC322), PC481; two of BI100*, CH100* or GL100* (see Note 1 below); 1.0 senior science, mathematics or computing credit; 1.0 credit in both Curriculum Division A and B courses.
