Faculty of Arts
The interdepartmental honours program in Archaeology consists of a minimum of 20.0 credits (or equivalent). Four areas of specialization are offered: classical, near eastern, North American historical/industrial and North American prehistoric. Although the four areas have 6.0 common core credits as noted below, each program also has a number of particular courses that are required, some in Archaeology and some in related fields. Consequently, students should strive to choose their area of specialization in year 1, and those wishing to change programs should consult with the chair.
The Core Program consists of AR100*, AR245*, AR306*, AR341, AR360, and 2.0 Archaeology credits not in the student's area program, 1.0 credit of which is predetermined by the course requirements of each area. A senior credit in a language other than English must also be completed, unless a written exemption is obtained from the chair. For progression purposes, and for graduation, the cumulative GPA will be calculated on all required courses specified in the core and in the student's area of specialization.
