Objectives

The General BSc program is designed to give the student knowledge and appreciation of the broad range of human endeavour in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences, while providing for study in greater depth and detail of the student's chosen major subject in the natural sciences, mathematics, or computing. The study of the major subject takes place in the context of other natural sciences, mathematics and computing. It may be further augmented by the choice of a second major, a minor, or an available option in another subject.

A student in the General BSc program must choose a major subject from among Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Kinesiology and Physical Education, Mathematics, Physical Geography, and Physics.

Registration in a major is not permitted unless the student has obtained a GP(A) of at least 4.00 in the required junior credit(s) of the major subject. (Exceptions must be approved by both the Department offering the major and the Dean of the appropriate Faculty.)

For a secondary program, the student may select as a second major any of the above subjects or any major available in the General BA program, or, alternatively, a minor or an available option. To complete any major, minor, or option, all applicable Common and Special Requirements must be fulfilled. Additional credits may be necessary to fulfil all applicable requirements.
