The combined Honours Communication Studies program consists of 20 full-credit courses (or equivalent), of which not more than six may be at the 100 level. The program must include at least seven senior credits from the Core and Elective courses listed below. At least two credits must be at the 300 or 400 level.
Core Courses (three and a half credits): CS100, CS200, CS235, CS400 and one and a half credits from CS201/PY201, CS308/SY308, EN302 and CS340 (to a maximum of one credit).
Elective Courses (four senior credits): Courses must be selected from at least three of the following categories:
Language and its Uses: AN210, EN204, EN205, EN223, EN227, EN228
Media and Mass Communication: CS310/AN332, FS241, FS242, FS245, FS341, FS343, PO349
Business and Organizations: BU208, BU352, BU388, BU472, PS212, PS238, PS239
Social and Theoretical Contexts: LL200, LL201, PS205, PS215, PY203, PY207, PY215/FI215, PY216, PY223, PY225
Studio: CS204/FS204, CS205/FS205, CS207, CS208, CS209, CS309
Notes:
- For progression into Second Year, a minimum GP of 6.0 is required in CS100. For progression into Third Year, Fourth Year and for graduation, the field of specialization for GPA purposes will consist of all Core and Elective Courses taken.
- At most one credit of CS340 may count toward the Core requirement. Additional CS340 credits may be included in the program as Elective Course credits, with the approval of the Coordinating Committee and subject to the regulations governing Irregular Courses.
- CS429 (Directed Studies) may be included in the program as an Elective Course, with the approval of the Coordinating Committee and subject to the regulations governing Irregular Courses.

Students are encouraged to select First-Year courses carefully.
- Students are advised that the Co-ordinating Committee may approve the inclusion of 300 and 400 level courses from cognate disciplines in a particular student's program if the topics are relevant to their course of study (e.g., PY480, SY401, SY402).
