Faculty of Arts
The combined honours degree in Cultural Studies consists of 20 credits (or equivalent), no more than 6.0 of which are at the 100 level. Students must take a minimum of 7.0 credits in Cultural Studies, with a maximum of 1.0 credit at the 100 level.
Years 1-4
Students must fulfill their theory and period requirements (each 1.0 credit).
Year 1
KS100 – Culture in Historical Perspective
KS101 – Culture in Thematic Perspective
Year 2
KS200* – Analyzing Culture: From Theory to Practice to Criticism
Year 3
Students choose one of three streams Image, Sound, or Text:
Years 3-4
1.0 credit from other electives. Students can choose among the courses that are listed under all three KS streams and those in the Theory and Period Requirements. Year 4
0.5 credit: Cultural Studies Honours Seminar, or an approved honours seminar from another program. (For examples of possible Year 4 KS seminars, refer to the outlines for MU472, MU472, KS420, and KS430).
